Influencer Marketing is the 'new marketing strategy' since a while now. However, the influence of a person is not necessarily determined by the number of followers they have, but by the TYPE and concentration of followers they have.

Usually, influencers with smaller number of followers are estimated to have more influence on the people and hence, are able to drive more sales for a brand. Their small community is concentrated, and 'influenced' by their recommendations and suggestions.

It is ideally wiser for a brand to get more number of NANO Influencers for their sales campaign rather than appointing MEGA Influencers. This kind of strategy is more likely to convert into sales and bring about a greater ROI for brands.

The celebrities / MEGA Influencers or even MACRO Influencers end up having a mass following which is very less likely to buy a product. Most of their followers are there for entertainment.
